NUMMI will:
- Conduct its automobile and truck manufacturing
operations in a manner that conserves natural resources and the
environment;
- Strive for continuous compliance with
the letter and spirit of applicable federal, state and local environmental
requirements;
- Maintain and improve programs to reduce
natural resource consumption, prevent pollution and recycle waste
materials;
- Adopt and continually improve an environmental
management system which assigns responsibilities and sets targets
for improving environmental performance, and;
- Communicate the environmental policy to
all NUMMI team members, contractors and suppliers.

Affairs provides team members
with materials to keep them aware
of NUMMI’s environmental
policy. EA also utilizes NUMMI’s
publications, NUMMI News
and Inside Track, to promote
the policy.

Only
through the cooperation and assistance
of its team members can NUMMI
remain an environmentally-aware
and responsible company. To that
end, NUMMI asks all team members
to help the Environmental Management
System by:
- Becoming familiar with NUMMI’s
Environmental Policy.
- Knowing what to do in case of
an environmental emergency.
- Following specialized work instructions
related to NUMMI's environmental
aspects.
- Saving energy by turning off
lights, computers, and other electrically
powered machines when they are
not being used.
- Saving paper by using two-sided
copies and e-mail.
- Conserving water.
- Submitting suggestions to reduce
the use of materials, water and
energy.
- Reducing, reusing and recycling.
